NEPRA approves electricity tariff increase of Rs 2.52 per unit The FCA will
be charged with the November 2021 bill paid by all consumer categories of
distributors ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on
Tuesday increased the electricity tariff by 2.52 rupees per unit due to the
fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for September 2021. According to a related announcement on Tuesday, it was announced that the FCA will be debited
for September 2021 with the November 2021 bill paid by all consumer categories
of distributors, with the exception of the lifeline consumers of all XWDISCOs. It was also revealed that the Central Power Purchasing Agency
Guarantee (CPPA-G) had requested a positive FCA of Rs2.65 per unit. The 2.52 rupee increase will cost consumers 40 billion rupees. According to the communication, this adjustment will be shown separately in the
consumer bills based on the units billed to consumers by XWDISCOs in September
2021. XWDISCOs are set to reflect the adjustment in fuel charges related to
September 2021 in billing month November 2021, it said. The prices were last increased in October of this year when NEPRA filed an increase in the electricity tariff by Rs 1.95 per unit for August 2021 due to the FCA over CPPA's request for an increase of Rs 2.7. |
